North Point · Meet the Staff · John Dyer
Elder
John serves as an elder at North Point Fellowship. He has attended NPF for
about thirteen years. Raised by Christian parents, he was taught the
Christian faith since childhood. In his early teen years he became
frustrated with failing to live like he knew God wanted, and subsequently
quit trying. One summer evening when John was fifteen, God performed a work
of His grace in him, giving him certitude, peace, relief, and overwhelming
joy. Since that evening, God has faithfully kept John through the peaks and
valleys of life. John grew up mostly in Georgia. Originally showing up in Flagstaff in 1981 to attend Northern Arizona University, he managed to earn a four-year electrical engineering degree in seven years. (He readily admits to not being a model student.) John is married to Risa and they have three sons, commonly referred to as "the Dyer boys": John, Matt, and Ethan. He is grateful to God for allowing him to work at W. L. Gore and Associates for the past 15 years. Finally, he loves anything that is done outdoors: hunting, backpacking, climbing, etc.
